You’ve validated the idea. Now you need a product customers can rely on - and a team that can keep building it.
You built a working prototype, perhaps by vibe-coding it with AI. People are using it, asking for more, or committing to a pilot. You have evidence worth pursuing, but the next step raises different questions: can the application support real customers, what should you build next, and who should own the work?
I work hands-on with you to strengthen the application, establish product direction, and build the smallest team needed to take it forward. You can start without an existing engineering team.
Tell me what you built, what customers have done so far, and where you need help. Drop me a message on LinkedIn.
Start with what is already working
We look at the product together: who uses it, what they value, and what their behaviour tells us about the next investment. We distinguish demonstrated demand from assumptions still to test.
I inspect the application and how it runs, including the parts that handle customer data, access and critical workflows. We decide what to retain, what needs strengthening, and what might need replacing. How the code was written does not decide whether it should survive.
The result is a scoped first stage: the customer outcome we are working towards, the technical risks to address, and the evidence we will use to judge progress. We agree the scope, fee and schedule before starting that work.
What the initial review gives you
- A recommendation on what to retain, strengthen or replace, with the reasons and uncertainties.
- Prioritised risks connected to customer workflows and the next stage of the product.
- A proposed first implementation stage, including scope, dependencies and how we will check it works.
- The skills and ownership needed to keep the product running and developing.
Build a product you can depend on
I contribute directly to implementation and technical decisions. Depending on the application, that may mean making critical workflows reliable, putting access controls and tests in place, improving how changes are released, or making failures visible and recoverable.
We keep delivering useful product improvements while strengthening the foundations. The engineering should support the customers and demands ahead of you. A full rewrite, a new stack or a large architecture is a decision to justify from the evidence.
Product direction stays part of the work: deciding which problems deserve attention, choosing what to build next, and checking whether the changes help customers.
Build the team to own it
As the work becomes clearer, we establish who needs to own product decisions, delivery and the application in production. I can help define roles, hire for demonstrated needs, onboard people and lead their work as part of the agreed engagement.
We build practical ways of working around that team, including how to use AI, review changes and learn from customers. The goal is the smallest team that can reliably carry the work. Hiring follows the need.
We agree how responsibility moves from me to you and your team, including the system knowledge, documentation and day-to-day practices they need to continue independently.
What we work towards
The milestones depend on your starting point. They can include:
- A stronger application: agreed customer workflows working reliably, with proportionate testing, deployment and operational foundations.
- A clear product direction: prioritised customer problems, the next decisions to make and ways to check the results.
- People who can own the work: clear responsibilities, the necessary skills, and a practical handover as the team takes over.
How we agree the engagement
We start with a conversation about your prototype, customer evidence, ambitions and budget. From there, we agree the scope and fee for an initial review. That review informs the implementation stages, involvement, fees and schedule we agree together.
You do not need to buy the separate organisation-wide assessment first. This engagement starts with your product and its next stage. Any team building or hiring support is explicitly included in the scope we agree.
This is a fit when you have a working prototype, evidence from potential or actual customers, and the resources to invest in the next stage. Bring the uncertainties too - we can discuss what they mean for the work before committing.
Why work with me
My experience spans product and business decisions, architecture, hands-on engineering, hiring and leading product and engineering teams. I can work through both the application and the organisation that needs to support it.
Discuss your prototype
What have you built? What have customers actually used or committed to? What needs to happen next?
